I would imagine Chicago wedding photographers see trends fade in and out year to year, but after Kelsey + Jon’s wedding on Saturday, I’m hoping they started a trend that’s here to stay.
One thing I always want to know at weddings is how the couple knows each member of the wedding party. I usually get the nitty gritty since I spend most of the day with them, but for other ceremony attendees, they’re not as lucky (or nosey) to get the inside scoop.
During Kelsey + Jon’s ceremony yesterday, their officiant went down the line and gave a little introduction on each member of the wedding party. For instance, everyone in attendance of yesterday’s ceremony was informed the maid of honor, Alyssa, is always the life of the party. We later found out this was 110% true. These ceremony introductions MAKE SO MUCH SENSE. This was the first time I saw it happen and I wanted to applaud and cheer, but I continued photographing without opening up my mouth. I hope this is something I continue to see. I love it when a wedding is representative of the couple. Thanks, Kelsey + Jon for for making yesterday like no other 🙂
“We really wanted to make sure we introduced our wedding party at some point in the night, so we have a short intro for each person during the ceremony. Our wedding party is so much of who we are because they’re who we share our life with, so it was important for us that people know who they are.”
Advice to other couples planning their wedding:
“Be a team would be both wedding planning and marriage advice. If you’re planning a wedding on your own, find tasks for both people to do because it’s a lot of work. Same thing in life. Responsibilities start to pile up and it’s important to help each other out when needed.”
